Woof! Woof! Ridicule is an electro-pop band from The Hague. Their first album, 'Run Faster' is a feet mover! We had a chat with the band's lead singer, Suzanne.
Tell us about WWR.:
Woof! Woof! Ridicule = The Ypma sisters, Suzanne and Eveline, producer Peter Geraedts and drummer Maurits de Vries. In March we released our debut album Run Faster. The album is a mix of catchy, edgy songs with danceable beats and playful synthesizers. What makes Woof! Woof! Ridicule really unique is the use of electronics. We make music by touching water in laboratory glassware or play keys on a bunch of bananas.
Which musician is an inspiration to you?
St Vincent has inspired us while we were working on our first album. The sound they create by combining electronics with a normal band is unique. I had the pleasure to see Tuneyards recently and love their percussions and vocals. It would be great to work together with them.
What is your favorite song?
When Peter was 12 he was convinced that Princes of the Universe from Queen was the best song ever made. He had a cassette with just this song that he played all day long. He still regrets it :) I have 'Laura' from Bat for lashes in my top 10 at the moment and Eveline can't get enough of Beck. Maurits gets a happy face from 'Una paloma blanca', but hey, who doesn't?
In which venue would you really like to perform?
The atmosphere makes the night, not the venue... So I absolutely don't have a preference.
